Maoists Madhesi Minister rejects demand of single province in Madhes

Kathmandu, Feb 18 (UNI) Maoists Minister from Terai Matrika Yadav has rejected the idea of single province in Madhes, local media reports said here today.

''It was impossible to grant single Madhes province'' Nepalnews quoted Mr Yadav as saying. Major political parties including the Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala have said the idea of separate Madhesh province cannot be fulfilled.

Mr Yadav himself a representative of the Terai (Madhes) community urged the Madhesis to take part in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election to institutionalise their rights.

''If we are true leaders of Madhesis, there is no alternative to take part in CA election,'' he said.

The united front of major political parties of Madhes have launched protest and indefinite strikes in various parts of the southern border with India that has created difficulties in the supply of essential goods in Kathmandu and other parts of the country.

Govt officials dismissed from service

Hyderabad, Feb 18: Former Deputy Executive Engineer (R and B) in Ananthapur district S Vijaya Bharat was dismissed from service after being convicted by Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad today. Earlier, Mr Bharat was trapped by ACB officials on September 20, 2002, while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 for doing an official favour, a press release said here. One in three young Aussies cheat on their partner

Sydney, Feb 18 : A recent survey has revealed that almost one third of Australian youngsters have been unfaithful to their partners at least once. The online survey conducted by Swinburne University, Victoria University and the Hong Kong Institute of Education found that one in three young Australians agreed on cheating their partners.
