Jairam Ramesh to address 'Vision Summit 2008'

Bangalore, Feb 18: Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh will address the two-day global conference 'Vision Summit 2008' here today.

The conference is being hosted by the India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor driven industry.
The keynote address will be delivered by Azim H. Premji, Chairman, Wipro. The theme of the conference is 'Evolving domestic market: Growth driver for the Indian electronics industry.' Speakers are stalwarts in both design and manufacturing as also policy makers at the State and Central level. Entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and economists will also share their perspectives.

According to Poornima Shenoy, President, ISA, "This is our third consecutive global conference. The emerging Indian market is the key driver of the industry impacting both design and manufacturing."

"It is important for ISA to highlight the intrinsic worth of India. We have the support of our Ministries at both the State and Central level to do so. This year's participation is from nearly 200 companies, with 300 plus delegates from over six nations," added Shenoy.

Cauvery: Complete shutdown of K'taka on Feb 12

Bangalore, Feb 10: Karnataka will be completely shutdown on Feb 12 from 6 am to 6pm to support statewide bandh called by Kannada organisations against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict.
