Indore-Manmad rail line

Bhopal, Feb 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today assured that procedural delays, vis-a-vis laying of the roughly 350-km-long Indore-Manmad railway line, would be tackled, official sources said.

A 158-km stretch of the line would pass Indore division. Mr Chouhan had related discussions at his residence with a delegation led by Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan.

''During Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent Jhabua visit, I urged him that the project's entire cost be borne by the Centre. My government will soon present its side of the matter after a full-fledged study,'' said Mr Chouhan who also discussed tha matter with three Maharashtra MLAs.

He said that detailed discussions would take place with Dr Singh and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad.

Truck owners to go for state-wide stir against speed governor

Bangalore, Feb 18 (UNI) Karnataka Lorry Owners and Agents Association protesting against the High Court order making installation of speed-governor compulsory for all commercial vehicles have decided to go on indefenite strike from February 22. Talking to newsmen, Mr Shanmugham, President of the Association, said a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here today. He said that if state government went ahead with the Order, all transport vehicles, would go off.....

Pregnant tigress rescued in Bengal

Kolkata, Feb 18 (UNI) Ending high drama, West Bengal Forest officials today rescued a pregnant tigress, which had climbed a tree after straying into a village at Deulbari in South Twentyfour Parganas district in the Sunderbans area. Four villagers received minor injuries when they helped Forest department officials catch the animal. One of them was taken to hospital.
