Kathmandu, Feb 18: The border security officials of Nepal and India have agreed to seal the border and the transit points of both countries 72 hours ahead of the commencement of the Constituent Assembly election in Nepal on April 10.

A meeting of the border security officials from Kapilvastu and Dang districts of Nepal and Balrampur district of India reached this agreement held near Kapilvastu district yesterday decided to close the border, it is said in the official news media today. The meeting of the security officials of the two countries was organised by the local Administrator of Balrampur district.

The meeting also agreed that the officials of both countries would work actively for checking criminal activities and drug and women trafficking across the Nepal-India border.

Chief District Officer of Kapilvastu, Rambilas Raya and Chief District Officer of Dang Mohan Krishna Sapkota from Nepal and Deputy Superintendent of Police of Balrampur district, India, Sachidananda Dubey and other security officials from India participated in the meeting.

Nepal and India have more than 1800 KM of open border. The close social, cultural and economic links between the two countries since ancient time make Nepal and India relations unique in the world.
