FIR likely against UP official for inflamatory book

Lucknow, Feb 18: The Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating lodging an FIR against a state civil services officer for spreading religious and communal hatred through his book which has some inflammatory references to certain religions, castes and great personalities.

''A 1977 batch Provincial Civil Services officer Laxmi Kant Shukla, who has written the book 'Jati Raaj' is placed under suspension and the matter has been referred to the Home department for further probe,'' a highly placed government official told to the sources this morning.

The book, published recently, has some definite objectionable contents with reference to several political and social luminaries.

The comments made in this book are most likely to give rise to political, social, religious and communal hatred hence the action is being planned, according to the official.

Before this, two senior bureaucrats had been suspended by the Mayawati government for registering their foreword rpt foreword messages in the book authored by a central government employee in Sultanpur having some contents which had eulogised the Gandhi family.
