DAV pips SRC, ARMY XI downs NR in Ranjit Singh hockey tourney

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Lakhwinder Singh pumped in a brace as DAV College, Jalandhar downed SRC, Ramgarh 2-1 while Army XI defeated Northern Railway 2-0 in the 4th Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament here today.

In a largely listless encounter, SRC took the lead in the 21st minute through Harwinder Singh.

However, Lakwinder converted converted two penalty corners in the 50th and 56th minutes as SRC emerged victorious.

In the other match, Dhananjay Mahadik (19th) and Anil Ekka (34th) struck in the first half as Army XI went into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead.

The second half failed to produce a goal as the armymen hung on to their lead.

Army XI will now take on DAV Jalandhar in their next match.
