CM intervenes to ensure ''light'' for students

Chandigarh, Feb 18 (UNI) Keeping in the view the annual examinations of the students, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has directed State distribution companies to ensure minimum two hours supply in the morning and four hours supply in the evening to the rural domestic consumers even by regulating power on the industrial and other sectors.

The State has also made arrangements to procure 20 to 30 LUs daily from Maharashtra and Chhatisgarh costing Rs. 8 to 9 per unit during the exam months of February and March and fforts were being made to procure short term power from all possible sources, a spokesman said here today.

Haryana Power utilities at present are supplying about 650 LUs/day which is 70 to 100 LUs more power in comparison to corresponding period of last year, he said.

Due to failure of winter rains and abrupt increase of the cost of captive generation, the demand in agriculture sector and industry has increased tremendously.

He said to meet ever growing demand of the State Haryana Power Utilities are scheduling power from liquid generation of NTPC Gas Plants in the range of 30 to 40 LUs per day which has a variable cost ranging between Rs.8 to Rs.10 per unit.

Use scientific ways for mining: Koda

Ranchi, Feb 18 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today stressed on using scientific ways of mining for proper utilisation of iron ore in the state. Speaking at the two-day national seminar on 'Beneficiation and Pelletisation of Iron Ore of Jharkhand', Mr Koda said maximum utilisation of iron ore was possible only through scientific mining as major part of the mineral remains unused. ''The state contains 37 per cent of the total iron ore reserves available.....
