Centre to set up Footwear Design and Development Institute

Rohtak, Feb 18 (UNI) The Central Government will set up a Footwear Design and Development Institute at Rohtak, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here today.

He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of an industrial model township on the outskirts of the town.

He said that Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today sanctioned one of the two such institutes for Haryana. The new institute will be developed at a cost of Rs 125 crore and it will impart training to 1000 youths every year.

Mr Hooda said that with the setting up of industrial model township the face of Rohtak will be changed as was done by the Maruti in Gurgaon.

He said the township will be developed in around 3000 acres of area along the National Highway-10 and 871 acres land has already been acquired for this purpose.

In the first phase, an amount of Rs 17,000 crore will be spent for providing Infrastructural facilities, he added.

Later, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the Extension project of the Industrial Estate in the town for which the Government has already acquired 152 acres of land. A 132 KV power sub station will be set up in the Estate to streamline electricity supplies for the industrial units.

Mr Hooda also laid the foundation stone of a new complex of the District Jail near Sunarian village.

A Sewerage Treatment Plant with the capacity of 100 lakh litre per day near village Kanahli was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister during his day long hectic tour of the town.

Earlier the Chief Minister was honoured by the Kumayun Sabha, Rohtak at a function in local Government college.

Bhopal, Feb 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today assured that procedural delays, vis-a-vis laying of the roughly 350-km-long Indore-Manmad railway line, would be tackled, official sources said.
