Centre, Haryana govt ink MoU on Swasthya Bima Yojna

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) The Haryana Government today entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Union Government to implement the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna providing health facilities to unorganised sector workers in the state.

Haryana is the third state to have adopted the scheme aimed at workers belonging to below poverty line category and their family members.

The MoU was signed by Mr Anil Swaroop, Director General, Labour Welfare on behalf of the Centre and Mr Naresh Gulati, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Labour department, for the state. State Labour and Employment Minister A C Chaudhry, state Labour Commissioner N C Wadhwa and ESI Healthcare Department Director D V Saharan were present on the occasion.

Initially, four districts -- Faridabad, Yamunanagar, Panipat and Bhiwani -- would be covered under the scheme at a cost of Rs 2,288.48 lakh during 2008-09 in the first phase and was expected to target 280,000 million beneficiaries. The remaining 16 districts would be covered in a phased manner over the next five years.

Koirala urges for unity among democratic forces in Nepal
