Bolaria cremated with state honours

Amritsar, Feb 18 (UNI) The mortal remains of Raminder Singh Bolaria, a ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA and former Amritsar Senior Deputy Mayor, were today consigned to flames with full state honour at the cremation ground here.

Bolaria (51), who was suffering from lever cancer for quite sometime had died on February 14 in the US where he had gone for treatment last month.

His body was flown to India by air and then brought here by road today.

Information and Public Realtion Minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia received the body here on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

The body was taken to the cremation ground in a procession from his residence in Gurbaksh Nagar area.

The pyre was lit by Bolaria's son Inderbir Singh, who is a member of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation.

A large number of relatives, friends, followers and political leaders cutting across party lines, were present at the cremation.

Centre to set up Footwear Design and Development Institute

Rohtak, Feb 18 (UNI) The Central Government will set up a Footwear Design and Development Institute at Rohtak, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here today. He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of an industrial model township on the outskirts of the town. Rice Millers seek fair price for bran

Kakinada, , Feb 18 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Rice Millers Association President D Bhaskara Reddy today alleged that the millers were being denied a fair price for rice bran supplied to the solvent extraction mills and subjected to continued exploitation. Youth murder sparks tension in TN

Rameswaram, Feb 19 (UNI) A 24-year-old youth was brutally murdered by an unidentified armed gang near Dhanushkodi here this evening. Police sources said the deceased N Karuppaiah, a close relative of a wealthy businessman, was waylaid by the gang, when he was riding his motorcycle at a deserted location. The gang attacked him with sickles in which Karuppaiah died on the spot. After staging the cold-blooded murder, the gang threw the body of Karuppaiah.....
