New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) The Congress today lashed out at BJP President Rajnath Singh for saying he had no regrets about the Kandahar hijacking episode, and said the BJP provided ''special escort service'' to the terrorists during the crisis.
''The way a senior BJP minister accompanied the terrorists to Kandahar (for swapping with the hijacked passengers) was nothing but a special escort service that the terrorists can ever dream of,'' Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
The BJP President had yesterday stated that the BJP was not apologetic about the NDA Government's decision to free three terrorists in 1999 and then Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh accompanying them to Afghanistan.
Hitting out at the BJP, Mr Singhvi said the word 'regret' was not in its dictionary.
''The BJP does not have regrets about the Kargil conflict or the Gujarat violence, or the Babri Maszid demolition, or the Lucknow saree scandal or anything which is wrong.
''.... Bus unhe rookavat ke liya kheid hai (The only regret they have is that they have been stopped in their mad lust for power by the UPA,'' he said.
Mr Singhvi said the BJP rewarded its senior leader L K Advani with the title of a ''PM-in-waiting'' for having found the party's new mascot in Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
