BHEL bags Rs 650 cr contract in Libya

New Delhi, Feb 18: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today said it has won a Rs 650 crore contract for setting up a 300 MW gas turbine-based power plant in Libya. BHEL will establish the Western Mountain Power Extension Project, comprising two units of 150 MW each, for General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, a BHEL spokesman told the sources today.

The order is the extension of the 600 MW (4x150 MW) Western Mountain Gas project. The equipment will be supplied from BHEL's manufacturing units at Hardwar, Bhopal, Jhansi, Bangalore, Chennai and Ranipet. BHEL's Power Sector Division will carry out the overall engineering of the project and execute all site activities, including erection and commissioning of the plant.

Sensex opens exuberantly at 14,217.36 points

Mumbai, May 17: The Sensex opened on an exuberant note today at a high of 14,217.36 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and zoomed up to 14,336.97 gaining a whopping 202.45 points in early trade, on extremely positive cues from northward-bound global and Asian markets. The broader 50-stock Nifty Index opened with a very nominal gain of 1.15 points on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at 4,172.10, but soon surged by an impressive.....
