Bandh to protest killing of youth by police

Imphal, Feb 18 (UNI) The Joint Action Committee (JAC), constituted against the killing of a youth by Imphal East police on February 15, has called a 48-hour bandh in Manipur from tomorrow rpt tomorrow demanding fulfilment of their demands.

Soram Rojit, a class XII student, was shot dead by the police at Hatta Golapati in Imphal East.

Police suspected the boy to be a militant.

JAC president Haokholun Guite said that Rojit was innocent and demanded an exgratia of Rs five lakhs and a suitable job for Rojit's wife from the government.

The committee had also refused to take back the deceased's body, which was lying at the morgue of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.

''We will take back the body only after our demands have been fulfiled,'' Mr Guite said.

'India sought only 3 suspects, not 20'
