Awards announced for journalists

Kozhikode, Feb 18: Former Editor of 'Janmabhumi' P Narayanan and 'Mathrubhumi' Reporter P Lijeesh have been chosen for 'Rashtraseva' and 'Raghaveeyam' Awards for contribution to journalism.

Both the awards, instituted by Kesari Weekly, carried Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and citations respectively, Hindustan Prakashan Trust Managing Trustee U Prakash Mallar told reporters here today.

The awards would be presented to them at a function here next month, he added.

Kerala Govt considering satellite city proposal

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 15: Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today informed the Assembly that the government was seriously considering the proposal of setting up a 'satellite city' in the state.In a written reply, he said the government was communicating the issue with various agencies within the country and outside.Mr Kareem disclosed that the government had already held preliminary talks with a Malaysian government undertaking company in this regard.If the proposal was materialised, the satellite city would be established in the Industrial Growth.....

Arjun Singh lays foundation for 7th IIM at Shillong

Shillong, Nov 21: Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh will lay the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Shillong on December one, official sources said here today. The new institute, christened the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM), Shillong, will get a grant for non-recurring expenditure of Rs 120 crore over a period of five years and Rs 45 crore for recurring expenditure over a period of six years. It will be the seventh IIM.....
