Two die, five injured in car accident in Darjeeling

Siliguri, Feb 15 (UNI) Two people were killed and five injured, three of them appearing in the Madhyamik examination, when a four-wheeler in which they were travelling fell off road and plunged into a 2000 feet gorge in Darjeeling district this evening.

Deputy Inspector General (Darjeeling range) Daniel Tesring Lepcha said the deceased identifed as Sajjat Hussain (20) and Arun Dewan (54) were from Jorebunglow region.

The five injured, including three girls appearing in the Madhyamik exam, were hospitalised with serious injuries at different hospitals. The girls among others Rabina Subba and Renuka Rai, both aged eighteen, were from the same region.

The accident occurred at Sonada when the vehicle was going towards Darjeeling, he added.
