New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) A local court today issued summons to six people including the Ansal brothers in connection with alleged tampering with or disappearance of vital documents from the case files of Uphaar cinema tragedy in which 69 people lost their lives.
Delhi police had filed a final chargesheet against Dinesh Chand Sharma, a staff member in Patiala House Court allegedly involved in tampering with documents from the case files of Uphaar cinema.
The police said in the chargesheet that Gopal Ansal had attended various meetings in the capacity as Managing Director and chaired the meetings for regulation of day-to-day functioning of Uphaar cinema.
After having been dismissed from service, Mr Sharma met another accused Prem Prakash Batra and sought his help for getting employment.
The police further said in the chargesheet that one of the accused Anoop Singh, Chairman of A+ security which provides security to companies controlled by Ansals had disclosed that after learning Sharma's connection in the Uphaar tragedy matter, out of fear, he applied fluid on the concerned pages of the wages register of A+ security agency containing the name of Sharma.
Directors of A+ security agency revealed that the accused Sharma was given employment on the recommendation of Brigadier Dharam Vir Malhotra, General Manager of Star State Management Limited.
Prem Prakash Batra told that he was in regular touch with the Sharma during the period of the employment disguised as Ahlmad in the court of Additional Sesssion judge Mamta Sehgal.
The police further revealed that Sushil Ansal stated that providing a job to H S Panwar was nowhere connected with the facts of the Uphaar case. He has provided employment to many officials of the fire services as it was a mandatory requirement for them to have people with good fire fighting experience and not many experts were found in the department.
According to police evidences and circumstances on record, prime facie commission of offences under section 120(B),109,201,409 IPC as established for which accused Sushil Ansal, Gopal Ansal, Prem Prakash Batra, D V Malhotra and Anoop Singh are liable to be tried.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Kumar Kuhar took cognizance on the basis of chargesheet filed on January 18, 2008 and issued summons to all alleged accused for appearence before the court on May 2.
