Sonia lashes out those criticising Internal security

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 15 (UNI) Lashing out against those who criticised the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government for lack of Internal security in the country, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today said the country knew who were playing with the security.

''Some parties are raising fingers on us questioning the Internal Security. I want to state before you that we do not need any certificate from those parties, who had escorted dreaded terrorists to Kandahar in Afghanistan,'' she said without naming the party, while addressing a public rally as part of the inauguration of a new building of the District Congress Committee here.

The BJP had recently expressed concern over the Internal security of the country and also the increasing terrorist activities.

Pointing out that the country was facing numerous challenges, including communalism, Ms Sonia said these parties were raising communalism for political gains.

''The Congress has the strength to fight communalism and face the challenges of terrorism. It is the only party with a national outlook, which stood for secular values and traditions and could keep the people of the country together irrespective of religion, caste and region,'' she said.
