Select ferrous metals down

Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) Select ferrous metals declined today on sluggish industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

Copper heavy slashed by Rs 200 per quintal. Copper utensils and Brass utensils also fell by Rs 100 per quintal each, amid lack of fresh demand.

For the last two days copper heavy and copper utensils were flat on moderate demand but today it fell because of lack of fresh demand, traders informed.

However, Brass cuttings and Aluminium utensils remained flat on renewed demand, traders said.

In Non-ferrous metal categories, Copper wire bars inched down by Rs 200 per quintal while Zinc slab improved by Rs 100 per quintal, on better buying support.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode were also down by Rs 2 and Rs 20 per kg respectively.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 34,300, copper utensils - Rs 31,500, brass utensils - Rs 24,800, brass cuttings--Rs 25,300 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,800 per kg.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 37,600, aluminium ingots - Rs 12,700, zinc slab - Rs 12,800, lead ingots - Rs 12,500, tin slab - Rs 785 and nickel cathode - Rs 1,400 per kg.
