Priya's clarion call to party leaders to counter CPI(M)

Kolkata, Feb 15 (UNI) Newly elected West Bengal Congress president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi today called upon all the leaders and workers to shed differences and jointly fight the CPI(M)-led Left Front Government in the state.

Talking to newspersons here after assuming the party charge, Mr Dasmunshi ruled out any reshuffle in the present committee, saying, '' Each and every leader has a role in the party and should discharge their duty accordingly. '' '' I have accepted the post not to throw anybody out. However, if necessary a minor reshuffle may take place in the present committee, '' the president stated.

" I have come here to do nothing extraordinary and hope each and everyone in the Congress should be utilised to the core in a bid to pep up the party's base in the state, '' he asserted.

He said, we have a short time before the Panchayat poll and our endaveour would be to established the strongest Congress before the Lok Sabha and 2011 assembly elections of the state Referring to the Opposition Trinamool Congress-led Progressive Democratic Secular Front, he dismissed any possibility of the formation of any secular front without the Congress.

He said, '' The poor and minority community have been deprived by the Left Front government and we will not compromise an inch with them in this regard. '' He also said, '' I am not here for breaking any party but if any party wants to join our party, we will welcome them. '' Mr Dasmunshi will leave the city for Agartala tomorrow in view of the coming February 23 Assembly election.

DAV, Jalandhar retains Nehru Champion Colleges Hockey title

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Ajay Kumar and Jujhar Singh slammed a brace each as defending champion DAV, Jalandhar extended their lease over the title routing Jawaharlal Nehru PG College, Bhopal 5-2 to lift the SAIL-Nehru Champion colleges Hockey Championship here today.
