President calls on Lalu in Patna

Patna, Feb 15 (UNI) Deviating from the established protocol, President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil today called on Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi at their residence after her arrival from Bodh Gaya.

Mr Prasad presented a memento of ''rail engine'' to the President, while his wife Ms Rabri Devi presented a Bhagalpuri silk sari when she went to meet them. There she also met some MLAs, MLCs and several other RJD leaders.

The President would stay at Rajbhawan for the night and participate in a number of engagements at Vaishali and the state capital tomorrow.

Earlier, Bihar Governor R S Gavai, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his several cabinet colleagues welcomed the President at the airport after she arrived from Bodh Gaya.

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Energy and Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today criticised Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao's statement that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy was trying to create disturbance in the city to divert people's attention from Telangana issue.
