Police rescue four tribal girls from train

Rourkela, Feb 15 (UNI) Police today rescued four tribal girls from a Delhi-bound train and arrested a woman in connection with the incident.

GRP sources said the girls were rescued from Rourkela railway station while they were boarding the general compartment of Utkal Express on their way to Delhi.

Police identified the girls as Sangita Kerketta (17), Pami Belung (16) of Kuchupani village in Simdega district and Likhita Belung(21) and Sunita Belung (22) of Raibanga police station of Sundergarha district.

Police took one Sangita Pa alias Sunita alias Sushama of Mansara village in Singhbum district to custody for trying to take the girls to Delhi with an assurance to provide them with high salaried jobs.

Efforts were on to contact the parents of the girls to hand over the girls to them, police said.

Excise duties on pharma, paper reduced

New Delhi, Feb 29: Finance Minister P Chidambaram has announced a reduction in the excise duty in the growth and employment driving sectors like pharmaceutical and paper. The excise duty has been lowered to eight per cent from 16 per cent on all goods produced in the pharmaceutical sector, Mr Chidambaram said while presenting the General Budget 2008-09 in the Lok Sabha today. The excise duty on paper, paper board and articles manufactured out of non-conventional raw materials was reduced from.....

US' pharmaceutical company obtains licensing rights from IMTECH

New Delhi, Feb. 24 (ANI): The US-based Nostrum Pharmaceuticals has obtained worldwide licensing rights from the Indian-based Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), to develop and commercialise Caerulomycin A, and its proprietary derivatives and analogues for their novel indication and immunosuppression.IMTECH is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR),Significance of the deal lies in potential of Caerulomycin to develop into a blockbuster drug to be used to prevent organ transplantation rejection and diseases such as.....
