Paramour kills woman

Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) An auto driver murdered his concubine by attacking her with a crowbar at Sembium in North Chennai in the wee hours of today.

Police said the auto driver, Sankar, was having an illicit affair with one Shanthi, a widow. Both of them were living together.

A wordy duel ensued between them late last night before the duo retired for the day.

In a fit of anger, Sankar took a crowbar and killed his concubine in the early hours.

Later, he surrendered before the police.

Bangalore, Feb 15 (UNI) The city police have arrested a person who allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old boy for ransom. Remand prisoner dies of heart ailment

Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) A remand prisoner, who was suffering from a heart ailment, died here today while being shifted to a hospital. Police sources said the prisoner Nathalingam (42) was lodged in Puzhal Central prison after he was sent for judicial remand on February 12. He was arrested in connection with an illicit arrack case by the Choonambedu police in adjoining Kancheepuram district. Nathalingam, a chronic heart patient, complained of uneasiness and was rushed.....

Mega block on suburban sections of CR

1044 computerised bank branches to accept Advance Income Tax

Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made arrangements for accepting advance income tax with as many as 1,044 computerised branches of public and private sector banks being opened for the convenience of the income tax assesses. Of the 1,044 branches, 986 branches are of public sector banks, while 30 are of HDFC Bank, nine of ICICI Bank and 19 of AXIS Bank, the RBI stated in a release here today......

Port employee drowned

Visakhapatnam, Feb 15 (UNI) An employee at Visakhapatnam Port Trust who was working on a vessel 'KANAKA', accidentally fell into the sea and drowned early today.
