Organise meetings on AP growth in villages : AP CM

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked his MLAs to organise meetings and seminars in every village to educate the people about the rapid growth that was taking place in all sectors in the state since 2004.

Interacting with the Congress MLAs at Assembly, Dr Reddy said the MLAs should chalk out a programme to propagate the development that witnessed in the state after the budget session was over. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the people about the state's economic growth from grossroot level.

Observing that the state had recorded 10.37 per cent GSDP as against 8.73 per cent GDP at national level, he said the growth in agriculture sector was touched at 10.08 per cent, as compared to three per cent average growth in the country.

Alleging that the opposition political parties were politicising the state's economic growth without recognising the facts, the Chief Minister said 12 irrigation project works were completed and the remaining 27 projects would be completed next year under 'Jalayagnam' programme, an official release said.

Political parties in AP protest petrol price hike

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (UNI) Various political parties today organised rallies and took out processions in Andhra Pradesh to protest the hike in petrol and diesel prices by the Centre. The United National Progressive Alliance would agitate along with the Left parties in different states, demanding withdrawal of the hike, its convener and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters outside the state Assembly here.
