Opposition demands division in Orissa Assembly

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15 (UNI) The demand for a division on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address to the house by the Opposition would be taken up tomorrow, Speaker Maheswar Mohanty ruled.

As soon as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik replied to the motion of thanks giving on Governor M C Bhandare's address which concluded tonight, Opposition Chiefwhip Satya Bhusan Sahu, stood up to demand for a division.

All the Congress members were then seen on their feet and demanded division be taken up.

But Speaker Maheswar Mohanty ruled that the division would be taken tomorrow after the question hour.

Incidentally, State Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei would present the annual budget for 2008-2009 in the Assembly tomorrow.

Bangalore, Feb 27: Counting of votes polled in the assembly elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur began this morning amid tight security. The results so far are In Punjab(116 seats)  Akali-BJP to form Government.  Sidhu leading by 78000 votes in Amritser.
