NTPC signs JV with BSEB for 1,980 MW power plant

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) State-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today said it has formed a joint venture company with Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) to establish, operate and maintain a thermal power project in Bihar.

''NTPC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the BSEB to form a company, which will undertake the establishment, operation and maintenance of a 1,980 MW (3X660 MW) coal-based thermal power project at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district of the state,'' an official statement today said.

The JV agreement was signed by NTPC CMD T Sankaralingam, and BSEB Chairman Swapan Mukherjee, in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

NTPC presently has an installed capacity of 28,644 MW (including 1,794 MW through JVs). It is diversifying into hydro power, coal mining, power distribution, power trading, power equipment manufacturing, EPC etc, the statement added.

The Navratna company plans to be a 75,000 MW company by the year 2017.

Beng govt hands over 'Nayachar' to private corsortium

Kolkata, Feb 15(UNI) Initiating the process of setting up a chemical hub, the West Bengal Government today handed over 'Nayachar', a 13,000 acre island near the industrial town of Haldia, to a private consortium. West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation(WBIDC) and New Kolkata International Development, a consortium of three companies, signed the necessary agreement in presence of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. The Chief Minister said WBIDC and NKID formed a joint venture company--Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy.....

Agreements worth Rs 10,310 cr inked in MP
