No let up in cold wave in capital, Min dips to 5.4 degrees C

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Despite the forecast of rise in the mercury towards the weekend, there was no let up in cold wave conditions today as the minimum dipped by a degree to 5.4 degrees Celsius.

The cold Northwesterlies continued to lend chill in the air, especially in the morning.

The Met office had forecast the cold to abate today, expecting a a sharp rise in the minimum temperature to 8 degrees C.

Yesterday the minimum was recorded at 6.4 degrees after a continous rising trend since Tuesday.

Delhiites have been facing a severe cold wave since the beginning of the month with the temperature plummeting to 3.8 degrees C on Monday, making it the coldest day in February in Delhi in the last six years.

The maximum temperature settled at 23.7 degrees Celsius yesterday.

The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with minimum temperature likely to be 6 degrees C tomorrow.
