No human rights violations by NESCO in Orissa - Minister

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15 (UNI) Orissa Transport Minister Jayanarayan Mishra today denied reports of any violation of human rights by the power utility NESCO in Balasore district.

To a question of Mr Pratap Chandra Sarangi(BJP) in the absence of Labour and Employment Minister Pradipta Nayak, the Minister said six cases were pending in the local Commission court in connection with the incidents in which four died and two sustained injuries.

Mr Misra said NESCO power employees association had lodged a complaint in the local Labour office alleging violation of the Industrial Dispute Act by the NESCO.

They alleged that the Executive Engineer Central Electrical Division, Balasore, had not paid wages to 23 labourers and retrenched 30 employees.

Mr Misra said action had been taken as per the Industrial Dispute Act 1947.

A case had been lodged in the local SDJM court for non payment of wages.

Conciliation proceedings were on for removing 30 employees.

The Executive Engineer had already reinducted 27 of 30 employees retrenched and efforts were on by the local labour department to provide reemployment to the rest three, he said.

Different views emerge on SLR status for oil bonds

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) The Oil Ministry and Finance Ministry today took diffrent stands on providing Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) status to oil bonds. ''I do not know yet. Let me see.
