Jeev slips to 6th place, 5 Indians make the cut

Jakarta, Feb 15 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh carded four under 66 and slipped to 6th slot as five Indian made the cut in the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open Golf here today.

Chile's Felipe Aguilar took the second round lead after recording eight-under par 62 for a 13-under par 127 total.

The cut was applied at one under 139 and 80 golfers made it to the money making round.

Jeev, who was tied at fourth place at the end of the first round with a score of 65, played well again but dropped two strokes on the 16th and 18th and that cost him two places.

He had three birdies on the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th but on his return two bogies spoiled his day. His two round total of 9 under 131 (65,66) took him to 6th place.

Arjun Atwal, shot his second successive three under 67 and with a 6 under 134, he took the joint 14th place.

Atwal, who was lying at 23 place yesterday, moved up nine slots with a round which had four birdies- on the 4th, 7th, 8th and 16th and a bogey on the 17th.

Delhi based Shiv Kapur shot three under 67 with the help of five birdies, which he had on the 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th and 12th. He dropped two strokes on the 2nd and 14th. His two round total is 4 under 136 (69,67).

Another Delhi golfer, Gaurav Ghei, became the third Indian to return three under 67 round and with a total of 2 under 138 (71,67).

He made a fine recovery to move up 51 places from 96 to 45th.

Ghei had five birdies-on the 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 18th but to successive bogies on the 14th and 15th dented his good work.

The fifth Indian to make the cut was Jyoti Randhawa who had a par 70 round and with two round score of 2 under 138 (68,70). He was clubbed with Ghei.

Jyoti, who was 37th at the end of first round lost eight places with this round in which he had two birdies (4th and 7th) and two bogies (2nd and 16th).

Two Indians-Rahil Ganjee and Amandeep Johl failed to make the cut.

Rahil, hit two identical rounds of 74 and with eight over 148 ended at poor 145th place while Johl, with 11 over 151 ended dismal 152. Johl had two rounds of 75 and 76.

Thailand's Prom Meesawat, fired five straight birdies in his opening front nine before closing with a total of nine birdies to share joint-second place together with South Africa's James Kamte on matching 129.

Austria's Martin Wiegele took fourth place on 130, three strokes off the leader at the 1.2 million dollar co-sanctioned event between the Asian Tour and European Tour.

Khajuraho Fest begins on Feb 25

NTPC signs JV with BSEB for 1,980 MW power plant

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) State-run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today said it has formed a joint venture company with Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) to establish, operate and maintain a thermal power project in Bihar. ''NTPC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the BSEB to form a company, which will undertake the establishment, operation and maintenance of a 1,980 MW (3X660 MW) coal-based thermal power project at Nabinagar in Aurangabad.....

MP govt focussing on infrastructure: CM

Jabalpur, Feb 15 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today claimed that his government was focussing on development of infrastructural facilities for making the state rank among developed ones.
