Indo-Pak composite dialogue Zardari's top priority

Lahore, Feb 15: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairperson, Asif Ali Zardari has said that the continuation of composite dialogue between India and Pakistan would be his party's top priority.

Earlier this month, Pakistani High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik had indicated that the Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan would meet in Islamabad in March to review the progress made in the previous rounds of composite dialogue process. So far, four rounds had taken place, including the one last year. The fifth round would be launched once the review meeting was held.

Zardari also said that though Makhdoom Amin Fahim was a respected party leader, the establishment is less likely to accept him as a Prime Minister. The PPP was negotiating with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain to form an alliance with him the after the February 18 parliamentary polls, Zardari said in an interview with News One TV channel.

His party would encourage the process of national reconciliation and national unity after the elections, Zardari said, adding that without containing poverty and illiteracy, elimination of extremism would not be possible.

Zardari claimed that the despite all rigging tactics, the PPP would secure vast majority, the Daily Times reported.
