Hearing in Leela Kunj case on February 27

Allahabad, Feb 15 (UNI) Two more women allottees of the disputed ''Leela Kunj'' apartment of the city today approached the Allahabad High Court seeking interim relief to stay the notices issued to them by Allahabad Development Authority (ADA) for demolition of the block.

The Bench comprising Justices Amitav Lala and Shishir Kumar, however, did not grant any interim relief to the petitioners and deferred the hearing of the writ petition till February 27.

The Bench passed this order on a writ petition filed by two lady owners of the two flats in Leela Kunj apartment situated at 7, Beli road.

The judges deferred hearing of the writ petition as the counsel appearing for the ADA and state government informed the Court that Supreme Court (SC) has ordered to maintain status-quo in respect of demolition of the apartment till February 25 on the oral request of the counsel, appearing for the appellant.

The advocates appearing for the lady petitioners, requested the Court to grant relief to the petitioners till February 27 as the interim relief granted by the SC to the allottees of the apartment is expiring on February 25, but the Court refused to grant relief to the petitioners.

The Court said the Allahabad police had completed the formalities by lodging complaints against the builders and others but till date neither concrete action has been taken nor the accused have been arrested.

The Court was of the view that ADA officers, who were involved in the activities of illegal construction, will also not be spared. The Court will here this case on February 27 along with other connected writ petitions filed in this regard.
