Govt approves bidders for second stage Port construction

Bangalore, Feb 15 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today said the state government had short-listed six bidders for constructing the second stage of Karwar Port.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the Port would be built on public-private partnerships at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore.

The Port, which presently handles three MT of Cargo, would handle five MT of Cargo, once the second stage was completed, he added.

The Governor said two more berths would also be constructed at the Port. The tender process will begin soon and the lowest bidder will get the project, with a stipulation that it should be completed in three years, he added.

Mr Thakur said the Committee also approved a pilot project to streamline the administration at Gram Panchayath level in taluks of Devadurg and Bagepalli under the Gram Swarajya scheme.

A Committee would be set up soon to expedite the clearance of pending files from various departments to save time and money, he added.

Centre conspiring to restrict Orissa's mining right- Naveen

EC notice to Sonia; BJP, Congress react strongly

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) The Election Commission today served notice on Congress President Sonia Gandhi on a disqualification complaint against her for having accepted a Belgian honour, which evoked strong reaction from her party and the BJP.
