Gamblers held, Rs 20,000 seized

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (UNI) The sleuths of 'Commissioner Task Force,' Central Zone team, today arrested four people when they were playing cards in Chikkadapalli police station limits and seized Rs 20,000 cash from their possession.

The arrested were B Raju, M Ravi Shankar, V Venkatesh and K Shyam Goud, police said.

Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) In a major haul, officials of the Air Customs Intelligence unit today seized 650 gm of Heroin, worth Rs 65 lakh in the international market, being smuggled to Spain. Talking to newspersons here, Air Customs Commissioner C Rajan said the consignment was concealed in four packets at the back of two portraits of Gods. Each portrait contained two packets each. Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) A Sri Lankan woman was arrested here today on charges of sheltering a Malaysian woman wanted by Mumbai police, who had escaped from Immigration officials at the airport here two days back. Police sources said a special team had been sent to Tiruchirapalli where the Malaysian woman Alamelu Lakshmikanthan (42) was staying. Accused in dowry case held at airport

Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) A 35-year old software engineer working in Mumbai, was arrested at the International Airport here in connection with a dowry harassment case registered in the Maharashtra capital. Airport officials said that based on the request made by Mumbai police, Chinnadurai was held by the airport Customs officials during immigration check, when he was about to board a London-bound flight. HC sets aside DGP, CP's extension but stays execution of order

Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) In a blow to the state government, the Bombay High Court today set aside the extensions granted to Director General of Police Dr P S Pasricha and Mumbai Police Commissioner D N Jadhav. The court has, however, stayed execution of the order for next three weeks that will allow both the top police officers to complete their extended tenure, which ends on February 29. Two arrested with fake currency in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 15 (UNI) Two persons were arrested along with fake currency this afternoon, official sources here said. On specific information, a team of District Special Branch conducted a raid in Gujjar Nagar area here and apprehended two persons from a tea stall. ''During frisking, fake currency worth of Rs 80,000 with Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes, was recovered from their possession,'' sources told UNI.
