Court denies bail to fraud couple

Srinagar, Feb 15 (UNI) A local court has rejected bail application of a couple who duped innocent people after promosing them jobs in the government departments.

Rejecting the bail application of Abdul Hamid Khan and his wife Zahia Khan, the Judicial Magistrate said if the accused are released on bail, they might tamper with evidences.

The prosecution said on December 29 last year one Javaid Ahmad Khan, resident of Batmaloo lodged a complaint that on December 22, 2006 Khan and his wife demanded money from him and other unemployed of the area for providing them jobs in the government departments and plots in government colonies.

However, after receiving the money, the accused provided copies of land allotment in their favour. But the documents later proved to be fake, the prosecution said adding the accused were arrested on February 8.

CPI urges Govt to appoint 'Leader of the House'

Ulema reacts diplomatically on extending Taslima's visa
