CM urges C-Ward residents to exercise caution

Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has urged residents of C-Ward here to exercise caution before consenting to proposals by private organisations for redeveloping the area.

The residents must exercise such a caution till the time a Planning Authority has been established to oversee the implementation of the redevelopment project, Mr Deshmukh told a delegation led by South Mumbai Lok Sabha member Milind Deora which called upon him today.

The Chief Minister's said this in response to the delegation's request that a government nodal agency be appointed to overlook and monitor the project, a release issued by Mr Deora here today said.

The monitoring agency will not only oversee the project but protect residents of the area from coercion and enticements from developers, and instill confidence, the delegation told the Chief Minister.

It added that large portion of the area would be affected by Coastal Regulatory Zones (CRZ) and reserved spaces were also home to a number of places of worship and heritage sites.

JNUSU, FDI petition PM for compensation to ''police victim''

Rohtak gets 10 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant

Chandigarh, Feb 15 (UNI) Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has constructed a Sewage Treatment Plant of 10 MLD at Kanheli village in Rohtak district at a cost of Rs 4.16 crore. HUDA Chief Administrator T C Gupta said the plant would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on February 18. The plant had been constructed on 38 acres of land and it would be extended to 64 MLD in phases according to the requirement.....

Two relatives killed after being hit by canter

Yamunanagar, Feb 15 (UNI) Two peole were killed after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction near Radaur village on the Saharanpur-Pipli highway this evening. Police sources identified the victims as Mohal Lal and his brother-in-law Mahavir. Both died on the spot. The police has registered a case against the canter driver, who absconded after the accident.
