Change your heart and mind: CNRI advises Raj Thackeray

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) A group of NGOs has urged Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to bring about a change in his heart and mind so as to win over the love and affection of millions of people, including those whom he considered ''dangerous'' to the civic life of Mumbai.

''You are unfortunately indulging in destruction of this intangible entity called Mumbai through your volunteers and supporters who neither have the knowledge of history nor [take] pride in the unity of the country. They are engaged in the destruction because you ask them to do so,'' the Confederation of NGOs of Rural India (CNRI) said in an open letter to Mr Raj Thackeray.

The group told him that they (MNS activists) could not be weaned away from their actions because he himself was ''overwhelmingly possessed of the immediate imaginary games of politics''.

''You are young and have a lot of time to think. We believe that you will not disappoint the people of this great nation especially when there is a scope for rectification, reconciliation, reunion and harmony," the group said.

''When you are engaged in pursuing things at the height of populism caring little for the feelings and inconveniences of the affected silent majority, we wish to warn that you are going to be swept away by the currents of history which is cruel and has no respect for a person because of his language or place of activity,'' the CNRI told Mr Raj Thackeray.
