BSES sacks two contract employees under Zero Tolerance Policy

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Continuing its drive to weed out corruption, the BSES, a power distribution company in the capital, today terminated the services of two officials employed by one of its contractors for conniving with a customer and fraudulently installing a meter at his premises.

The duo Raj Kumar and Manohar Lal allegedly had connived with the customer, a resident of Dakshinpuri Extension, who had been found misusing his domestic connection for commercial purposes.

The customers' electricity connection was disconnected in July 2006 and he has dues pending to the tune of Rs 2.5 lakh.

Investigations revealed that the customer had bribed the two Rs 10,000 for getting the meter installed, a BSES spokesperson said.

The connection was restored without obtaining the mandatory Re-Connection order (RCO).

The accused did this by forging a Reconnection Order entry into the system and by procuring and fixing fake meter seals on the meter, the spokesperson said.

The contractor has also been put on notice under the the company's Zero Tolerance policy to stamp out corruption from the system, he said.
