Accused in dowry case held at airport

Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) A 35-year old software engineer working in Mumbai, was arrested at the International Airport here in connection with a dowry harassment case registered in the Maharashtra capital.

Airport officials said that based on the request made by Mumbai police, Chinnadurai was held by the airport Customs officials during immigration check, when he was about to board a London-bound flight.

According to the case, his wife Sonia (35), also a Mumbai-based software engineer, had registered a dowry harrassment case against the accused, who married her two years back.

Evading arrest, Chinnadurai had escaped from Mumbai to Chennai recently. He was trying to go to London for taking up a job.

Officials said he would be handed over to the Mumbai police, who were on the way to Chennai.

CBI raids Kidney kingpin father-in-law's residence in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 15 (UNI) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths today conducted a raid at the residence of Kidney kingpin Amit Kumar's father-in-law father-in-law's residence in city outskirts here today, official sources said. Winter back with a vengeance

Kolkata, Feb 15 (UNI) Winter is still making its presence felt when spring ought to be in the air. Met office sources said the maximum temperature recorded in the day was 27.1, two degrees below normal, and the minimum was 11.8, five degrees below normal. The maximum humidity was 51 per cent. New journalism college opened in Kolkata

Kolkata, Feb 15 (UNI) Indian Institute of Professionals and Shristi College of Journalism and Mass Communication jointly opened a college of journalism in the southern part of the city today. Institute Director A.Khemka here said academic session would start from March one. The college would start three-year Bachelor degree, two -year Masters, PG diploma and one year certificate courses. Each department would comprise 60 students. The institute is recognised by the UGC and Association of Indian.....
