Accused in actor attack case remanded to judicial custody

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (UNI) Four people claiming their involvement in the attack on Telugu actor Rajasekhar, his actress-wife Jeevitha and their two daughters when the family was returning home from railway station in a car, were remanded to judicial custody today.

Nampallu Metropolitan Magistrate remanded the four alleged accused to judicial remand till February 29. Nagesh, Suribabu, Venugopal and Venkatesh came to police station along with their counsel and surrendered on February 13 night.

The attackers came in four cars and chased Rajasekhar's vehicle to a halt at Punjagutta crossroads in the early hours on January 28.

The protestors shouted slogans against the doctor-turned-actor for making critical comments against Chiranjeevi, and demanded an apology. They then pelted the car with stones and hit it with iron rods, damaging it and causing injury to Rajasekhar and his elder daughter, Sivani.

On a complaint filed by Rajasekhar's wife, the police registered a case under Sections 147, 148, 341, 324, 327 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

It may be noted that Chiranjeevi fans were angered over Rajasekhar for making statements in a press conference that Chiranjeevi is a political novice and he would not join his political party.
