650 gm Heroin seized

Chennai, Feb 15 (UNI) In a major haul, officials of the Air Customs Intelligence unit today seized 650 gm of Heroin, worth Rs 65 lakh in the international market, being smuggled to Spain.

Talking to newspersons here, Air Customs Commissioner C Rajan said the consignment was concealed in four packets at the back of two portraits of Gods. Each portrait contained two packets each.

He said the parcel was booked from a courier company in Puducherry and addressed to Spain.

While it was being loaded in a cargo flight late last night, the officials grew suspicious and did not load it into the aircraft.

The consignment was opened this morning in the presence of senior officials, who found it contained two sarees, two lungis, a dairy and two portraits, behind which the drug was concealed.

The address given in the courier parcel was found to be fake.

HC sets aside DGP, CP's extension but stays execution of order

Two arrested with fake currency in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 15 (UNI) Two persons were arrested along with fake currency this afternoon, official sources here said. On specific information, a team of District Special Branch conducted a raid in Gujjar Nagar area here and apprehended two persons from a tea stall. ''During frisking, fake currency worth of Rs 80,000 with Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes, was recovered from their possession,'' sources told UNI. CBI raids Kidney kingpin father-in-law's residence in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 15 (UNI) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths today conducted a raid at the residence of Kidney kingpin Amit Kumar's father-in-law father-in-law's residence in city outskirts here today, official sources said. A five-member team raided the premises of Sham Lal Saini's home in Digiana, some 8 kilometres from here.
