1044 computerised bank branches to accept Advance Income Tax

Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made arrangements for accepting advance income tax with as many as 1,044 computerised branches of public and private sector banks being opened for the convenience of the income tax assesses.

Of the 1,044 branches, 986 branches are of public sector banks, while 30 are of HDFC Bank, nine of ICICI Bank and 19 of AXIS Bank, the RBI stated in a release here today.

RBI further urged the assesses to take advantage of these branches and save themselves from the inconvenience and long queues in the metropolis and Navi Mumbai regions by paying their tax well in advance of the last date, the release added.
