UP main opposition Samajwadi party (SP) would stage demonstration at all the state sugar mills tomorrow, whereas the Congress party had announced to protest over the same on February 19, at Kushinagar Ramkola sugar mill.
SP state president Shivpal Singh Yadav today said ''the BSP government has failed to meet its commitment of clearing all the dues against the farmers, which is over Rs 1,000 crore.'' ''In the last Mulayam Singh regime, timely payment was made with hefty charges to sugarcane farmers in the history of UP,'' he added.
Coating the figures of payment, he said Rs 6899.19 crore was paid to the farmers in the last SP regime.
Denouncing the government for the dismal state of the farmers, Mr Yadav said Government is yet to take decision over the indefinite closure of the sugar mills, due to such laxity, farmers were bound to sell sugarcane at low prices to the private market players, he underlined.
Mr Yadav further charged the Mayawati government for running an anti-farmer regime and announced to hold state-wide demonstrations tomorrow, for the same.
Meanwhile, Congress had also announced its agitation for speedy clearance of sugarcane farmers dues.
