Tata Power ties up with SBI for a 3,115-cr project

New Delhi, Feb 7, 2008 : The country"s top private power producer, Tata Power has reportedly tied up with State Bank of India and other banks for raising a Rs 3,115 crore debt to develop a 1,050 mw coal- based power project in Jharkhand.

The 1,050-mw Maithon Right Bank Thermal Power Project is being set up by Tata Power in joint venture with Damodar Valley Corporation.

Kolkata, Dec 18: A teenage girl was today raped and burnt in the areas earmarked for the Tata project in Singur in Hoogly district raising political claims of every hue and colour. Hoogly Police Superintendent Suprotim Sarkar told UNI, "The girl has been raped elsewhere and huis body was brought and burnt here to hide the evidence."
