Two shooters of Ravi Pujari gang held in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) Two shooters, belonging to the Ravi Pujari gang, were arrested by police in connection with alleged firing on a person and grievously injuring him on December 21 last year.

The police have recovered a single-barrel hand gun, 3 live cartridges, a steel knife and mobile phones from the duo.

They had fired at a sales executive of Ekta Developers after its owner was not found in the office. The executive sustained injury below the left shoulder.

Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Maria today said the owner of the construction company had been getting threats and extortion calls from Ravi Pujari, for which he was given police protection.

''During interrogation, the accused said they have been working for Ravi Pujari for the last 3 months and were promised Rs 2 lakh for killing the owner of Ekta constructions since he could not be targetted, they were paid Rs 500 each,'' he informed.

Mr Maria said the police will apply Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on the duo as there are many cases filed against them since 2004 in many police stations in Maharashtra and other states.

The two have been remanded in police custody till February 15.
