TRS President warns of Telangana stir turning violent

Hyderabad, Feb 7 (UNI) Cautioning that the stir for separate Telangana might take a ''violent turn'', TRS President K Chandrasekar Rao today urged Congress MPs and MLAs from the region to either convince Congress President Sonia Gandhi on separate statehood or resign along with them on March 6.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rao said ''we want to achieve statehood for Telangana in a democratic and peaceful manner. But the situation may go out of control if the Congress further tested the patience of Telangana people.'' ''We will resign from the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, if the UPA Government does not make up its mind by March six,'' he said and asked the Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the region to follow suit.

He said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy instead of sending a delegation of Congress MLCs to Delhi to chant ''development'' slogan should take a lead in finding a ''peaceful'' solution to the issue.

He accused the Congress government of selling lands worth Rs 15,000 crore in the Telangana region to big corporates.
