Three held for possessing fake foreign currencies

Agartala, Feb 7 (UNI) The Tripura police arrested three people, including a Bangladeshi national, and seized fake foreign currencies from their possession on the Udaipur-Sabroom road in South Tripura.

Police here today said a motor bike along with fake euro currency notes worth Rs one million, Brazil currency notes worth Rs 5,000 and a Bangladesh mobile handset with SIM card were seized from the miscreants' possession yesterday.

All the miscreants were produced in a court yesterday, which sent them in three-day police remand.

One of the arrested persons was also alleged to be the personal security guard of CPI(M) member of the Tripura Autonomous District Council (ADC) Chandicharan Tripura.

Hydro Policy for merchant sale of upto 40% in saleable energy

70,689 villages electrified under RGGVY: Shinde

New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said that 45,602 un-electrified villages have been electrified while another 25,087 villages have been intensively electrified. ''The government approved capital subsidy of Rs 5,000 crore in the tenth plan and has sanctioned Rs 28,000 crores as capital subsidy on January 3, 2008 under continuation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY)'' Mr Shinde told reporters here. School kids lead way in tiger, environment protection

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) Hundreds of the city's school children from 35 schools participated in a day-long ''Save the Tiger'' festival at the Maharashtra National Park at Dharavi today. Children enthusiastically participated in various activities like manning stalls on protection of environment and animals, T-shirt painting, clay modelling and quiz competitions.
