Shuttle service between Pondy, Villupuram

Puducherry, Feb 7: Southern Railway will start operating a shuttle service between here and Villupuram from tomorrow.

Railways sources here today said the service will make six trips daily to begin with. After gauging the response, a decision will be taken on the number of trips to be made. Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu had announced the service during his visit here a few days ago.

New Delhi, Dec 13: The CPI(M) today asked the countrymen to avoid travel on railways and other public transport tomorrow in view of its All-India General Strike to press for acceptance of the Left's 16-point charter of demands, including legislation to provide social security for the country's 370 million unorganised workers. Besides the four Left parties, other non-BJP, non-Congress parties including the SP, RJD, TDP, DMK and BSP will also support the strike, CPI(M)'s Lok.....

New Delhi, July 8: Hill Railways have completed a century of operations. In this context, Northern Railways are very keen that the Kalka Shimla railway should be put up for UNESCO recognition.
