Publicise manuscripts preserved in Dairatul Maarif: Ansari

Hyderabad, Feb 7 (UNI) Vice-President M Hamid Ansari today said the literature and manuscripts preserved in Dairatul Maarif should be publicised on a large scale to create awareness on the importance of the manuscripts at national and international level. Addressing the faculty members of the Dairatul Maarif here, he said new marketing techniques must be applied to promote the books compiled and translated by the institution.

He suggested that the government should appoint some experts to ensure that the research work, being done here, was not hampered.

Dr Ansari appreciated the state government for intiating welfare programmes for the minority comunity in the society.

Andhra Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir was present on the occasion.

Bittu taken into preventive custody over antiDera comments

Ludhiaana, Feb 7 (UNI) Radical Sikh leader Daljit Singh Bittu was taken into preventive custody today as he had thrteatened to disrupt a Dera Sacha Sauda function at Salabatpura in Bathinda district. Bittu was associated with SAD (Mann) untill his expulsion few months back for anti-party activities. PETA calls for hygienic poultry farms to check bird flu

Board on SEZs to meet on Feb 25

New Delhi, Feb 07 (UNI) The board of approval (BoA) for special economic zones (SEZ) headed by Commerce Secretary G K Pillai will meet here on February 25. Though the Commerce and Industry Ministry has not issued the agenda of the BoA meet, yet it is understood that it could among other things take up the case of multi-product SEZs like that of Reliance Industries' which is slated to come up in Jhajjar district of Haryana.....
