Prime Minister to visit Maharashtra on Feb 8

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) A heavy schedule awaits Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who will pay a two-day visit to Maharashtra from tomorrow.

Dr Singh will lay the foundation stone for the Rajiv Gandhi National Flying Training Institute at Gondia on February 9.

The Institute is a joint venture between the CAE, Canada, and the Airport Authority of India and would have a capacity to train 100 pilots initially. It would also have a state- of-the- art training facility with the course material and training methodologies provided by the CAE.

Dr Singh will arrive tomorrow in Pune. He would unveil the statue of noted economist and social scientist Dr D R Gadgil at Pravaranmagar in Ahmednagar district. He would also release a postage stamp on Dr Gadgil in commemeration of his contribution to economic planning and policy making, agriculture and rural development besides cooperative movement.

On Saturday, he would attend the tenth anniversary of the Mahindra United World College in Paud, on the lap of picturesque Sahyadri range. The college attracts students from 75 countries.

In the afternoon, the PM would leave for Gondia to participate in the annual day function of Gondia Education Society and lay the foundation stone for the 1980 mw Tiroda Super Thermal Power Plant, set up by the Ahmedabad based Adani Group.

Publicise manuscripts preserved in Dairatul Maarif: Ansari

MP govt spending Rs 1,227-cr on power

Bhopal, Feb 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government is expending Rs 1,227 crore on firming up power distribution. The Eastern, Western and Central Power Distribution companies have been entrusted with the endeavour that got underway about two-and-a-half months back, official sources said. Shamsher to lead U-18 Chandigarh hockey team
