Pravin Singh is new IG, Varanasi zone

Lucknow, Feb 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government tonight appointed Pravin Singh the new IG of Varanasi zone.

The government also cancelled the transfer of IG, Kanpur zone, Shiv Narayan Singh. Now, he would remain the IG of Kanpur zone, secretary (home) Mahesh Kumar Gupta said.

Instead of 38th battalion PAC, Aligarh, Dipesh Juneja has been made Commandant of 15th battalion PAC, Agra.

Whereas, the earlier incumbent Dr Bijendra Sharma has been transferred to 38th battalion PAC, Aligarh, in the same capacity.

Moscow, Feb 7 (UNI) Russia has agreed to lift the ban on imports of tobacco from India. Indian ambassador to Moscow, Prabhat Shukla met with Russian Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeyev yesterday to discuss the issue related to ban imposed by Moscow on the imports of plant products from India. Kathmandu, Feb 7 (UNI) King Gyanendra of Nepal expressed displeasure over the recent decision by the country's lawmakers to abolish the monarchy, a Japanese newspaper reported today.
