Bangalore, Feb 7 (UNI) Former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Allam Veerabhadrappa today said the chances of Congress regaining power will not be affected even if mid-term elections to the State Assembly were delayed.
''If the Assembly election is held in November or even later to take up delimitation of segments it will not affect us. Instead this will work to our benefit,'' he told newspersons here.
He said the delimitation process would help deprived sections like Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to get more representation.
If BJP continued to pressurise for holding the elections in May it might cause a negative impact on the saffron party, he opined.
''Elections should be held in November in the interest of Dalits so that they get social justice in the electoral process and this is the opinion of Congress leaders,'' he said.
To a question on former Prime Minister and JD(S) national President H D Devegowda's statement that his party would release the manifesto only after the Congress releases its manifesto, Mr Veeraphadrappa said ''Mr Gowda has no commitment for the people and their issues.'' UNI SIV RS DS DS1616
